Sopchoppy Worm Gruntin’ Festival
Big Bend Scenic Byway
The second Saturday in April is the day of our annual Worm Gruntin’ Festival in the streets and in the Depot Park in downtown Sopchoppy. April 13, 2019 is our 19th anniversary for the festival. We begin with a 5K race down country roads, and then continue with demonstrations of the local, age-old tradition of grunting earthworms. There is a Worm Gruntin’ Contest for children, an intense Wakulla County Horseshoe Championship, a lively Hula Hoop Contest for children and for adults, and live entertainment throughout the day, ending with the Worm Grunters’ Ball in the evening until 10pm. There are 100 vendors of original arts and crafts and delicious food and our unique festival t-shirts, hats and koozies. The Worm Gruntin’ Festival is free and open to the public. We have visitors from all around the country and from various foreign countries, so come and enjoy one of the best festivals in North Florida.
