Ocean Islands Trail Scenic Loop
Join Don Spence, PhD in Plant Pathology & Assistant Professor of Biology at Bethune-Cookman University, for a walk through Bicentennial Park, 1850 Oceanshore Blvd, Ormond Beach. This park was roller-chopped in 2017 to expand the existing dog park. The expansion project was cancelled shortly after it began and the park property has been re-growing under natural circumstances for the past 16 months.
Dr. Spence will talk about natural plant cycles and the proposed replanting project under agreement between the Pawpaw Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society and Volusia County (OSLT is a supporting organization.)
Contact Rob Bird with questions. This leisurely walk takes place over unpaved surfaces with varying elevations. Wear comfortable shoes, dress appropriately for the weather and bring water, a hat and sunscreen. After the walk you may enjoy a picnic lunch and watch the ocean or patronize one of the many local establishments along Oceanshore Blvd (A1A.)
