      2. Full design pending decision on location of crossing – related dialogue held with Shriners Children’s Hospital in late Q3/early Q4 2023
      3. New hotel going in on Rocky Point; discussions underway with the city to improve sidewalks to the trails

      2. The asphalt repairs were completed in July Remaining repairs to include the pedestrian fencing and repair of streetlights are dependent on the receipt of federal funding grants

   7. Clearwater visitor center – Amplify Clearwater
      1. Renovations were to be completed and visitor center was to open by spring break season 2025 (Delayed due to flood damage)

   8. Comprehensive PE&D evaluation for the Causeway’s future – FDOT
      1. Kisinger Campo & Associates was selected as the contractor for this FDOT is currently going through negotiations, and they expect the contract to be executed in June 2025. After that, they will have a public engagement meeting and an in-person kickoff meeting in late summer.
      2. Study estimated completion in 1.5 -2 years, pursuing federal funding (FHWA)

   3. Jurisdiction responsibilities
      1. Protect wildlife areas (email link) – FWC Law Enforcement
      2. Recreational areas north side of causeway, east of boat ramp are FDOT’s jurisdiction
   4. DRIVE for Clean Water Initiative, powered by FDOT – Salt Strong Alliance
      1. What started with the Clams for Clean Water Initiative partnering with Salt Strong Alliance has developed into the Drive for Clean Water Initiative. Its mission is to champion resiliency, restoration, mitigation, and habitat enhancement projects that support clean water, thriving fisheries, and resilient coastal communities
      2. Utilizing a TBEP Mini-Grant, the initial oyster mats installation began in July 2025 (Instagram reel, Facebook post)
   5. Message boards have been deployed along the causeway re: no parking on side of road and no loud music
   6. Tour Sea & Shoreline’s state-of-the-art Seagrass Nursery & Farm (Ruskin, Florida), where seagrass is propagated and grown for restoration projects across the Visit provided valuable insight into how these restoration practices can complement FDOT’s ongoing and future mitigation, resiliency, and habitat enhancement projects. (Completed Nov 2025)
