The Florida Scenic Highways Program boasts 27 designated scenic byways and counting. The Scenic Sumter Historical Byways winds through Sumter County. It passes by landmarks such as the Pana Vista Lodge, the Florida National Cemetery, and the Dade Battlefield.

The A1A Ocean Islands Trail is a Florida Scenic Highway that runs along the Atlantic Coast of Duval County. It is the only scenic highway with a ferry serving as part of the roadway. The J.C. Penney Memorial Scenic Highway is one of the shortest in the Florida Scenic Highways Program, but packs a lot of history within its limits.
