The Sebastian River Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a grand opening, open house and ribbon cutting ceremony on April 22, 2016 for the Pelican Porch Visitor Center. Located in the heart of Sebastian at the intersection of US 1 and Main St., the Pelican Porch Visitor Center underwent extensive renovations and remodeling, including a newly added porch with rocking chairs facing the Indian River Lagoon.

Funded by the business members, community organizations, Indian River County Tourist Development Council and individuals throughout the Sebastian River Area, the Pelican Porch Visitor Center provides a resource center for visitors and tourists, and connects the businesses with the Community.

New Interpretive materials for the center include:

  • An interactive kiosk for byway and local information
  • HD video display running the new Indian River Lagoon National Scenic Byway video
  • Wallpaper maps for visitors to explore
  • A life-size wooden dolphin as an ambassador to children

Serving as the “front door to the community,” the Chamber’s Visitor Center is designated as the official Visitor Center for the National Scenic Byway Program for the Indian River Lagoon National Scenic Byway. Additionally the Pelican Porch Visitor Center is one of thirty “Certified Travel Information Centers” for Visit Florida, the official tourism and travel agency for the State of Florida.

The Chamber invites the community to come in and enjoy the newly renovated building, with amenities, information and a very welcoming atmosphere.
